Quite frankly this book is what you would precisely expect from Paul . Basically “If a job is worth doing , it’s worth doing well !”
We highly recommend it to every outdoors person , anyone who spends time in nature and those interested in both ‘bushcraft and survival’.

“Getting our young people comfortable with being outdoors” our view on Bushcraft and Wilderness Living.. We explored much of the terminology we now use like for instance ; Wilderness , Thrive , Perception, Survival , Ethnobotany etc etc .How we embrace any subject of learning is the key . Teaching young folk to ask questions , embrace knowledge and to be enthused is precisely how Lucy and I start the syllabus. But not just talking or delivering ,more importantly listening.
Next week we study Firecraft - huge subject and very engaging !

Lucy and I had an absolutely fantastic morning with Tony at Raptor Care handling and enjoying his fabulous Owls , Hawks and Falcons . The natural world never fails to inspire us , from a ‘bimble’ in our woodland to trips abroad , it’s amazing . Thank you Emily and Bats fabulous gift x

Landrover’s , more especially ‘proper ones’ , have always been a part of our ‘outdoor adventures and life’. We are glad to report that our French neighbours ‘get it’ .Over nearly 2,000 miles these amazing vehicles featured everywhere. Very affirming!

Absolutely loved our ‘French natural odyssey’ . From North to South and back again with time spent in Les Alpilles. Lucy and I loved it . So much nature , fantastic changes ‘in the nature’ as we travelled enjoying the diversity.

A ‘beautiful scene’ from mid July . Doe and fawn thriving in the shadows of the woodland . Fortunately the streams are still flowing and there is still plenty of sustenance. We have many deer in the woods , all well managed to help protect both flora and fauna . The concern is what some folk see as ‘beautiful weather’ is the beginning of worrying weather patterns which will effect the countryside deeply.
However scenes like this and a belief that many of us are ‘invested’ in nature will always provide hope .
A fantastic day at @burngatepurbeckstonecentre spent learning about working and carving stone . Superb tuition and a beautiful location . We highly recommend the course. Lucy , as always, has a natural flair for any craft but we were both happy with what we produced and more importantly learnt.

In between the light rain showers we had a brilliant day . Lucy demonstrating and teaching some basketry using our ‘homegrown’ cattail/reedmace . Expanding how simple mats can easily evolve in to baskets . We discussed the importance of this wonderful plant through its various uses and ethnobotanical links .
We went on to discuss sheltercraft and sleeping systems/ procedures. Other topics covered included Sticks and their importance in the outdoors and a short session of archery .
