A beautiful Cherry to remember someone by . We are a part of nature and planting trees in memory of the precious people we have lost, is a time honoured ritual .
The joys of Prim Tech ! Lucy and I took the students on a creative journey where they discovered nature’s bindings and glues. We all created seventeen darts/arrows hafting arrow heads and fletching Mesolithic feathers using pine resin glue and sinew.

Fantastic ‘spring sunshine’ in our little wilderness. At every level the woodland offers or surprises you with something . From the scent of ‘Pinenes’ , to the glorious ‘all around you’ and the din of birdsong.

One of the most exciting ‘Spring treats’ ; the new unfurled Beech leaf . A wayside nibble and a half .. Foraging can be about calorific staples , vitamins & minerals and ‘gains’. The foraged young leaf 🍃 is more about morale , connectivity to nature and a fantastic nibble .
The tree 🌳 is relatively easy to recognize ,check out the trees shape , large boughs , bark , leaf litter , mast and leaves.
Fagus sylvatica/ Beech is widespread and common with many uses . If you are lucky enough to happen upon it’s leaves in early Spring - “have a nibble”.
